Tips from your Club

How can i determine the RPM of the engine for a given rear axle ratio?

This formula is from WT March 2011 in the Co-Operator and can give you RPM of the engine or The rear end ratio or what size a tire is needed for a given RPM.

RPM = (MPR x Gear ratio x 336 / Tire Diameter)

RPM = engine revaluations per minute
MPR = Miles per hour

example
RPM = 50 x 6.66 x 336 / 37.5"
RPM = 2983

This is a truck at 50 miles per hour with rear gears of 6.66 and tire size of 37.5 inches to get a RPM of 2983

SECRETARY NOTES:

Sagebrush Chapter of the SDC Meeting

May 17, 2011

Members Present: Ralph Capurro, Larry Crapo, Larry, Mary and Steven Schnell, Gary Crabtree, Pete Kronenburg, Art and Carol Van Dyke, Gordan Birmingham, Jim and Tom Wise, Jim Sloan, Pat Hansen, Keith Linheart, John Erb, Julie, Chris and Jennifer Fleischmann and Terry Ressler

Old Business: Ralph thanked Steve and Julie Fleischmann for hosting a club breakfast at their home prior to the car show. Friendship Car Show went well, however due to the weather it didn’t run very late in the day. Capurro, Crabtree, Schnells and Fleischmanns attended the show. Due to the poor weather, the show ended earlier than planned.

Wax and Shine will be May 26th from 530-730 at the museum. Please try to attend to clean up our sponsored car.

We will share Studebaker commercials at next month’s meeting. Bring what you would like to share with the club.

Larry brought in the items that club members ordered from the store. Please continue to order so that we can make money for the club.

New Business:

Larry Crapo and Tom Wise will be attending the Studebaker International Meet in June.

If you want to volunteer for the car push this year, please let Gary know. We want to staff B and T before we volunteer for another event.

Terry Ressler made a motion to sponsor a trophy for the International Meet. Tom Wise seconded it. All in favor. None opposed.

Larry Schnell asked whether we should send a thank you note from the club to the Ramsdens for hosting the car show. Ralph suggested that if a member wants to thank him that they can send a card.

Respectfully Submitted,

Julie Fleischmann

Sagebrush SDC Minutes

June 21, 2011

President Larry Crapo opened the meeting at 1900 hours.

Members Present: Larry Crapo, Jim Sloan, Art and Carol Van Dyk, Terry Ressler, Pete Kronenberg, Chris, Julie and Jennifer Fleischmann, Gary Crabtree

Old Business: Gary said that the Yerington car show had a good turn out.

Jim and Pete both plan to attend the Fernley Independence Day Parade.

Larry inquired if the club wants to continue to sponsor a car at the Reno Car Museum. No one was sure what fees are needed to be paid for the sponsorship, but it was thought that it was a little over $100. After discussion, Larry made a motion to continue to sponsor a car. Terry seconded the motion. None opposed.

New Business: Terry Ressler suggested that we change the meeting location for our monthly meetings. We all agreed that we will look into having our meetings at Grandma Hattie’s in Carson City. Julie will call the manager and arrange for a meeting room there for us. She will share the details at our next meeting which will be at Round Table Pizza.

Gary asked that everyone PLEASE email him the dates that you will work the car push for Hot August Nights. PLEASE NOTIFY GARY ASAP!

Per Larry, please continue to check out our on line store.

Car Updates: Gary had the big truck up and running but the fuel pump went out.

Pete has seats in his car and is working on the side panels.

Chris is working on the fire truck brakes.

Larry tore his engine down and sent the heads off. It should be ready to start in a month.

Art said that he and Charlie went to Idaho to check out a rolling chassis for a 32 Rockney. It has no engine, trans or wheels so the rolling chassis didn’t roll so well. They got it anyways.

Respectfully Submitted,

Julie Fleischmann
